I’m gonna have to check out this William Gay fellow if you’re putting him up there with McCarthy

He was something of a McCarthy disciple, so you'll see a lot of similarities. Start with my favorite short story of his: Where Will You Go When Your Skin Cannot Contain You?

I’ve been meaning to get to your fiction, but have been experiencing a similar fade in availability and energy overall. My wife discovered the phrase “revenge sleep procrastination,” which may ring true for you too, and is absolutely something I do and have done all my life. But I have a three-year-old and I’m not fucking Sun Ra, so a few hours’ sleep every night doesn’t cut it. So you’re not falling behind, you’re modeling good behavior for the rest of us. But I will be reading your stuff soon!

Thanks, Zachary. I’ve been on that revenge sleep procrastination run before, and I’ve just been crashing out a lot more. I’m trying to recognize when I’m not giving something my full attention and call it then.

Unfortunately they keep putting more stuff on the Internet like every day, so I can’t catch up! 😂

I appreciate you bookmarking my fic, thank you!

Good call on William Gay. I read The Long Home a couple years back. I didn’t find that as easy to go down as McCarthy but he def has chops.
